PRO12 General Santos City- A 2-day law enforcement campaign for loosed firearms in nine barangays in Palimbang town in Sultan Kudarat province on March 3-4, 2018, yielded 29 loosed firearms and assorted ammunitions.
PSUPT SULTAN SALMAN H SAPAL with his team in Provincial Mobile Force, PSInsp Carl Jayson D Baynosa with personnel of Palimbang MPS, along with Lt. Col. Frances Julius Bucayan PN of 5th Marine Battalion Landing Team (MBLT-5) and his team ably convinced individuals from barangays Libua, Butril, Malatunol, Kidayan, Namat, Kiponget, Kanipaan, Kisek, and Barangay Akol to peacefully surrender their firearms which include ammunitions and explosives.
Surrendered 28 assorted firearms were Three (3) units M16 rifle; Five (5) units M14 rifle; Three (3) unit Garand rifle; One (1) unit homemade M79 Grenade Lancer; One (1) unit uzi; Two (2) M203 grenade lancer (tube); 12 homemade shotgun; One (1) unit cal. 38 and One (1) unit Thompson.
PSSupt Raul S Supiter, Provincial Director of Sultan Kudarat Police Provincial Office (SKPPO) expressed his appreciation to the people of Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat especially to Sultan Kudarat Provincial Gov. Pax S MangudadatuActing Vice-Mayor Amil Pangunsayan and officials of different Barangay for their untiring support on the campaign against loose firearms of PNP PRO12.
“I further encourage the community of the province to report all illegal activities, and we in SKPPO together with the AFP counterpart and other law enforcement agencies, the local government of the province as well as security stakeholders will continue our untiring efforts to address terrorism particularly on the reported continuing recruitment of ISIS patronizing local terrorist groups”, PD Supiter said.
PCSupt Marcelo C Morales, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 12 (PRO12) in a statement said “I am very confident that thru our commitment and dedication in the PNP organization, the community is assured of a peaceful and orderly living away from the scourge of terrorism and criminality in the entire region”
“I thank my men in uniform for such initiative and great and laudable accomplishment they have done in the community of Sultan Kudarat province.” PCSupt Morales added.
The surrendered firearms and ammunition are now under the custody of SKPPO for documentation and proper disposition.(PO1 Allan Navarro-RPIO 12 PNCO).
